3PAR Utility Storage Receives Microsoft Cluster Services Qualification With HP ProLiant DL Servers

FREMONT, CA, U.S. — April 26, 2005

3PAR®, the leading provider of Utility Storage, announced today that the 3PAR InServ® Storage Server is qualified with Microsoft Cluster Services and select HP ProLiant DL servers. 3PAR collaborated closely with HP and Microsoft to achieve this qualification, which allows customers to deploy the combined solution with the confidence that it is pre-tested and supported by 3PAR, Microsoft and HP.

3PAR teamed with HP to test and certify 3PAR Utility Storage and an eight-node HP ProLiant DL server cluster running Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and Microsoft Cluster Services. The cluster included the HP ProLiant DL380 G4, DL380 G3, DL580 G2 and DL740. The combination provides continuous access to business-critical corporate data, even during server failure. This means in the event of a production server outage, customers continue to have uninterrupted access to their data stored on 3PAR Utility Storage.

"Achieving WHQL Microsoft Cluster Services qualification with HP ProLiant servers demonstrates that 3PAR is committed to delivering mission-critical Utility Storage for Windows environments," said David Scott, president and CEO of 3PAR. "Customers require a robust utility computing platform for their vital applications and data. They rely on 3PAR for their demanding data storage needs with their Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Exchange, and SQL Server applications. By working together with HP and Microsoft, 3PAR can assure our customers that 3PAR Utility Storage is pre-tested and validated to interoperate seamlessly."

"HP collaborated with 3PAR and Microsoft to deliver a cost-effective and robust utility computing platform for customers," said Paul Miller, vice president of marketing, Industry Standard Servers, HP. "The work with 3PAR allows HP's enterprise and service provider customers to deploy the market-leading HP ProLiant server platform with utility storage for their Microsoft Windows Server environments, knowing that the combination is tested and certified."

Microsoft's Windows Hardware Qualification Lab (WHQL) program defines the test specifications that vendors must meet in order to receive Microsoft Cluster Services qualification. This program ensures that solution vendors like 3PAR produce hardware and software that interact efficiently and optimally with Microsoft products. 3PAR and HP's successful qualification demonstrates to customers that 3PAR Utility Storage meets Microsoft standards for cluster failover and data availability in Windows Server 2003 environments.

"For mission critical applications, customers demand the reliability features in Windows Server 2003 Enterprise and Datacenter Editions including Microsoft Clustering Services," said Zane Adam, director, Windows Server Division, Microsoft Corp. "This Microsoft qualification for 3PAR Utility Storage assures customers that 3PAR is committed to providing their customers a qualified and supported storage solution on the Windows Server Platform."
